Design the environment
The plan defines a modernized network with a router, firewall, managed switching, four servers, approximately 35 workstations, wireless access points, and server racks. Salvageable equipment may be reused where appropriate to control cost.
Segment and centralize
The proposed architecture uses VLAN segmentation and centralized services including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and an IPSec VPN. Security baselines are part of the design rather than an afterthought.
Plan implementation—not just equipment
The project artifacts include a charter, work breakdown structure, Gantt schedule, stakeholder registry, communications plan, procurement and configuration tasks, and risk planning.
